Creative Remixes For The People.

Mission Statement

CRFTP is dedicated to helping foster a community of people interested in musical collaboration in the open source tradition. We bring together Mash-up artists, progressive labels, and musicians to create an environment where creative potential is not limited by copyright control.

Call to Action

Music Labels:
you cant deny the power of digital networking as a guerilla marketing tool. The time to embrace mash-ups and digital downloads as a promotional tool is here. You can submit parts of songs to get posted on the site. CRFTP members will remix them and post the results in our forum and other sites. This is an excellent way to start the domino effect of peer to peer exposure. The CRFTP founders are also available to remix songs directly.

Producers, Artists:
Signed or un-signed, you are wondering how to make this new market force work for you. You know the power of dance floor exposure, and how underground credibility can help build your name and exposure but you don't know how to be apart of the movement. Start here; by give thousands of creative people the chance to give you back their interpretations of your music. By posting your entire compositions, instrumentals or accomplish you are opening up the doors to a world of creative potential and possibilities.

Mash up Artists, Re-mixers
We love your spirit and creative potential! CRFTP is based on the mash-up/open source principles that you love. At CRFTP, you can be apart of a community of like minded people, get your works heard, get new materials to work with AND get exposure. As labels start to contribute parts from popular artists, you will get the opportunity to get your work heard by the people that can pay you to do what you love.

Press
Spread the word! You can bring the exposure and people needed to make this project work. CRFTP wants to thank BPM magazine for jumping on the project right away and WIRED magazine for publishing a wonderful article in November about Creative Commons copyright that parallels the mission of CRFTP.

Everyone
Do your homework, read about creative commons copyright and the power of open source technology. CRFTP approaches its music and this project in a funny, tongue in cheek manner but the issues we are addressing are serious and important to all of us.

"The fundamentalists of absolute property control (corporation and governments alike) stand in the way of the digital worlds promises of cultural democracy and even economic growth. They promise instead a society where every piece of information can be locked up tight, every use of information is (fair or not) must be authorized, and every consumer of information is a pay-per use tenant farmer, begging the masters leave to so much as access his own hard drive.

" A world opened up by communications cannot remain closed up in a feudal vision of property" " No country can stand in the way of it. it's a global trend. Its the very process of civilization. its the semantic abundance of the modern world, of the postmodern world - and there's no resisting it. "

- Gilberto Gil (interview, Wired Magazine Nov 2004)
